| Name: | Blair Jacob Sandburg |
|---|---|
| Birthdate: | 1969 |
| Location: | Lower Tadfield, United Kingdom |
| Website: | Neutral Omens |
Blair Sandburg stands about 5'7" tall, has long, fuzzy, dark brown hair and blue eyes. Oh yeah, the megawatt grin. He's too smart for his own good and a trouble magnet from day 1. But he's a good person, honest for the most part, and easily able to make new acquaintances. He's a charming little booger, in other words.
Blair Jacob Sandburg was born in 1969 to Naomi Sandburg, who raised him on her own. Who his father is, she's not saying. She might not know (it might even be Timothy Leary, who she spent some time with...) but she certainly doesn't think it matters. She loves him, which is the important thing.
He was raised all over the country as a result of her hippie lifestyle, making acquaintances easily but not a lot of friends. Excellent student, Blair minored in psychology and majored in anthropology. At the time of the televsions series The Sentinel (1995-1999) Blair is seeking his doctorate in anthropology at Ranier University in Cascade, Washington. Professor Sandburg teaches undergrad courses and is largely a typical starving student until he meets the embodiment of his research subject... Sentinels.
A Sentinel is a tribal guardian (according to explorer Sir Richard Burton) with the genetic advantage of having all five of his (or her) senses enhanced. There are many cases of people with one or two heightened senses--wine or perfume testers--but never one with all five. Until Jim Ellison, detective with the Major Crimes division of Cascade PD and his haywire senses comes along, that is.
Spoilers for series finale
After four years and enough material to write several theses, Naomi Sandburg gets hold of Blair's unpublished thesis. She sends it to a publisher who makes Blair a large book offer. A larger one when he turns that down. He can't--publishing will mean that Jim's secret will be revealed. There was no way he could ever publish his work, ever turn it in without ruining his best friend's life. So he holds a press conference in which he declares "The Sentinel" by Blair Sandburg to be a complete work of fiction--he faked his research. He loses his position at Ranier University and expects to be forced to leave his 'Police Observer' role at Cascade PD as well. But not so--after four years of not being a cop, he is offered a Detective's badge. This will be his only after he goes through the police academy.
I am not Blair Sandburg. He is a character from The Sentinel television series owned by Pet Fly. I am not Garret Maggart who played him on the show. I am playing Blair in the Neutral Omens online RPG and that's all.
